and Reservoir, are on the Provo River about 10 miles north of Heber
City, Utah at the 6,130-foot elevation. The reservoir has a 3,050
surface area. Situated in an open setting with shade along the
Francis Arm. Jordanelle Reservoir provides excellent fishing
for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and smallmouth bass. A population
of brown trout produced in Provo River, is expanding in the reservoir.
This mix of species provides an excellent sport fishery.
Two major recreation areas access the reservoir:
Hailstone, located on Highway 40 six miles north of Heber, and Rock
Cliff, two miles west of Francis on State Route 32. Two boat ramps and
fish cleaners are available at Hailstone, and boat rentals and fishing
tackle can be purchased from the marina.
Jordanelle Reservoir can also be reached by the non-motorized Perimeter
Trail connecting Hailstone and Rock Cliff. The trail also allows
hikers, mountain bikers, horse-riders, and cross-country skiers to
access Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail State Park.
